Carve Out Time to be Successful
This is an encore presentation of a video tip I recorded earlier in 2014. It's as relevant today as it was at the beginning of the year.
How you use your time is a key component in creating a successful dental practice. It’s not enough to just fill your schedule with patients – you need to also carve out time for business development. This is a critical step in reaching your goals and the level of success that you want for your dental practice.
Many offices that I work with feel like they are struggling. They are trying to implement change and integrate new ideas and business tools, but they are not making time to work on these strategies as a team. These practices are scared to block out time on their schedules for business development on a regular basis. Their overriding need is to be productive and profitable, and the only path they see to that profitability is a full patient load.
I want to encourage you to set aside time for business development. When you consistently dedicate time for practice development and you use that time wisely, you’ll find yourself being even more productive during the hours when you’re seeing patients. You will begin to gain momentum towards reaching your goals.
A few weeks ago I spent two entire days with Lynne, my business manager, working on my business. We didn’t do any of our normal tasks, instead we worked on the things that we would like to see improve in the business. We wrote protocols, brainstormed ideas, fine-tuned processes, and gave ourselves the opportunity to be really successful with the objectives that we have for this year.
I encourage you to look at what are you trying accomplish, and to start carving out blocks of time for business development. By setting aside times that are very focused to work on your goals, train your team, and strengthen your skills, you can make 2014 your best year yet!
