Are you making the most of technology in your practice
There are three main areas in your practice that create success: systems, team, and technology. Focusing just on technology, I've noticed that many practices are not taking full advantage of the technology that they have. Two common examples include practice management software and patient communication technology, such as Smile Reminder, Lighthouse, or Patient Activator. Many practices are missing out on these amazing technology tools simply because they haven't fully implemented and integrated it into their systems.
Full implementation of practice management software requires at least quarterly training until the team has completely mastered its functionality. After that the practice should schedule refresher training at least once or twice a year. The same thing goes for your patient communication tools. These tools are not inexpensive, and they have many features that aren’t being fully utilized. Many offices get a system like Smile Reminder, which happens to be my personal favorite, but they only activate the confirmation tools. They are comfortable using the text messaging and emailing systems to confirm appointments, but are missing out on an entire toolbox of powerful communications tools. For example, did you know that patient communication technology can also be used to get patients in the door, follow up on treatment, and manage your continuing care system? I also love the marketing components many of these systems offer.
Take the time to invest in training on practice management software and patient communication technology. Not only will this make your life easier and make your systems more efficient, but it will also leverage your time so you can focus on more important things like your patient's experience and satisfaction in the practice.
