Are You Making Assumptions?

Do you ever notice yourself presenting dentistry differently to a patient after you’ve learned something personal about a challenge that they might have in affording their care? Or maybe you learned that their insurance is at the max.

That sometimes can change your confidence as you’re presenting treatment. It could be because you’re making assumptions about whether the patient can move forward with this treatment or if they will.I want you to remember that you are responsible to your patients, not for your patients.

Focus on what your responsibility is to present to them the best that dentistry has to offer. And let them decide if this is a good time for them, or if this is something that they can afford.

When you make assumptions and bring those into the treatment conversation, you’re limiting your patient’s ability to make a choice that is in their best interest. And you don’t want to rob them of making that decision for themselves.

So, present the best that dentistry has to offer and let the patient decide.
