The Secret to Ensuring Successful Team Member Transitions

It is essential for systems and protocols to be in place in a dental practice so that team transitions can occur smoothly without interrupting the flow of the practice. People come and go, but having solid systems can prevent a huge disruption when team members change. Additionally, the learning curve for someone new is simplified when systems and processes are well documented.

Documenting protocols may not be the most exciting task. It takes time and dedication. However, having your business systems documented allows your business to function at the highest level freeing the team up to focus on your patients.

Take this simple test. If your front desk person, office manager, or hygiene coordinator decided to move or leave your practice, how easy would it be for someone else to pick up where they left off? Would the new team member be able to follow processes that are in alignment with how you want your dental practice to be represented? If you can’t answer yes to these questions, then you need to focus on documenting your procedures and protocols.
