We Made a Mistake

We all make mistakes as business owners. It’s how we handle those mistakes after the fact that really makes a difference in it turning into something negative or an opportunity for growth.

When you make a mistake with a patient or team member:

  • Own it.

  • Apologize.

  • Be sincere.

  • Don't make any excuses.

  • Just say, “I'm so sorry this happened.”

  • Ask, “How can I make this right?”

I know that if I make a mistake in my own business, one of the things that I do if I'm not careful is I tend to beat myself up over it.

I can easily allow that negativity to cloud my learning experience from how I could do it better the next time. If you make a mistake, just stay focused on owning it and asking your patient or your team member, “How can I make it right?”

Learn from that and move forward. Moving forward will allow you to focus on the future and grow and learn from that mistake.
