The Two Things That Will Make Your Team Meetings Productive
Have you ever had a team meeting where you start with the best intentions to be productive and you end up discussing 100 things and 0 things were resolved?
These either lead to frustration, or even lead to not having meetings anymore because they just don’t feel productive.
I’d like to give you two tips to help make your meetings more productive:
Always use an agenda
An agenda is something you can post between meetings to allow team members to add things to or you as the doctor or office manager can have a set agenda. When you go into the meetings make the decision ahead of time that you are going to stick to the agenda and these are the things you are going to discuss and fully resolve in this meeting.Create a “parking lot” for ideas
When things start to come up that are not on the agenda, have a designated place to put them so that the team members feel heard, but you’re going to postpone until a future meeting. I call this your parking lot. A parking lot can be a white board or a piece of paper on a bulletin board, labeled Parking Lot! Anytime something comes up that is not on the agenda, add it to the parking lot.
These two simple tips will make your team meetings so much more efficient and productive. Even though you may not be able to talk about everything that came up, staying focused will help you take small steps that lead to big results!
Implement these two things and then let me know how it helped your meetings run smoother. Please comment below or email your results to me at contact@kristinpelletier.com!
