Top 3 Benchmarks to Monitor in Your Practice

I was recently asked on Facebook what benchmarks should you be monitoring in your practice.

I have written an e-book on this topic entitled “10 Key Practice Benchmarks You Should Be Monitoring”. There is a link at the bottom of this blog for you to download a complimentary copy of this book.

Today I would like to share my top 3 benchmarks you should be monitoring.

  1. Difference between your Break Even Point and how much you are actually collecting
The Break Even Point is the total dollars you need to collect every month to cover your overhead.
I recommend monthly you compare your Break Even Point to your actual collections.

  2. Compare the number of active patients in your practice to the percentage of patients active in continuous care. (recare/recall)
When I initially start working with practices, many are surprised to find they have enough active patients to add multiple hygiene day to their schedule. They had no idea they had the patient base to support extra days.

  3. What percentage of patients are accepting their treatment plans (Case Acceptance percentage)
This is a very important benchmark because this is such a win/win for both the patients and the practice.
    Healthy patients = Healthy practice.
This statistic will also give you feedback on how effective your practice is at presenting and getting acceptance on treatment plans the doctor recommends.
